In the specifications of TPE (ThermoPlastic Elastomer) expandable garden hoses, the inner diameter (ID) and outer diameter (OD) are the core parameters, which will directly affect the water flow performance, flexibility, pressure-bearing capacity and applicable scenarios. The following is a detailed comparison and selection suggestions for our ID of 6mm, our OD of 9mm, 9.5mm and 10mm:

The ID is the same (6mm), and the theoretical flow velocity is consistent (Assume the Water Quantity at the same time period is Q, Q=AV, where A is the cross-sectional area and V is the flow velocity). However, we need to consider the aspect of the friction. First of all, we can know the inner A of OD 9/9.5/10mm is same. For the V, the water in the OD 9mm will flow smoothest because of the thinnest wall thickness and minimum friction, and V of the OD 10mm is slowest. In other words, for the Q, OD9mm > OD9.5mm > OD10mm. (But the Q of the 3 ODs are similarly same under the low water pressure.)


For the working pressure performance, the result (based on the wall thickness) is on the contrary to the Q. And the flexibility performance is same logic.
